Information Collection and Use
For a better experience, we may require you to provide personally identifiable information, including username, email, contact number, location and pictures. We use a Unique Device ID (UDID) and device type for sending push notifications about your bookings. We will also contact you via SMS for booking status updates using the phone number you provided during registration.
Driver Location Data & Permissions
The SpotonCars driver app collects precise location data (including background location) to operate core features such as dispatching jobs, navigation, proof of pickup/drop-off, and safety alerts.
- Data collected: GPS coordinates, heading, accuracy, and geofence entry/exit events while you are on duty or have an active job.
- How we use it: to stream your live position to our dispatch system, update riders on ETAs, validate pickup/drop-off completion, and trigger proximity reminders.
- Sharing: provided to riders and our operations team for trip updates, safety, and compliance; never sold for advertising.
- Permissions: the app requests "Allow all the time"/background location so tracking can continue during active jobs even if the app is minimized or the phone restarts.
- Retention: location trails are linked to the booking record and retained only as needed for operations, safety, and legal obligations.
